Tijdens de Jiwa dan Raga – retreat werd er gesproken over een tegenbezoek aan de Pencak Silat school Pusaka Mande Muda in Indonesië. Om ibu Ike en pak Tholib te bezoeken, samen te trainen en nog meer te weten te komen van Pencak Silat – tradities.
Het lijkt erop dat onze dromen omgezet kunnen gaan worden in echte plannen!

Tussen 8 – 10 juli kun je aankomen (als je uit Europa komt dan heb je wat tijd nodig om te acclimatiseren) en de vertrekdag is 23 juli.
Accommodatie: Ervaar het authentieke kampong-leven—geniet van de eenvoud en warmte van het lokale dorpsleven.

A Cultural Journey into Pencak Silat
Where: The charming village of Arjasari near Bandung, hosted by the incredible Ibu Ike Suwanda and Pak Enjang Tholib of the Pusaka Mande Muda style.
When: 8th – 23th of July 2025.
What to Expect: Learn the ancient art of Pencak Silat and other traditional Indonesian Martial Arts styles in a 12-day retreat from 11th – 22 th July.
Arrival is possible between 8th – 10th of July (if you’re coming out of Europe, you need some time to adjust) and the day of departure is 23th of July.
Accommodation: Experience authentic kampong living—immerse yourself in the simplicity and warmth of local village life.

Welkom in Indonesië
De grootmeesters ibu Ike Suwanda en pak Enjang Tholib heten ons van harte welkom in Arjasari, een dorp/kampung in de buurt van hun woonplaats Bandung, Java. Dit ligt ongeveer 200 km van Jakarta af. In dit dorp hebben zij een huis en een trainingsfaciliteit van hun Pencak Silat school: Pusaka Mande Muda (zie foto). Pencak Silat is een Indonesische vechtkunst en staat op de Unesco Werelderfgoed-lijst (zie link).
Ibu Ike Suwanda en haar man pak Enjang Tholib zijn de leiders van hun Pencak Silat school. Zij zijn een aantal keren in Nederland te gast geweest om ons en andere scholen te onderwijzen in hun stijl Pusaka Mande Muda.
In augustus vorig jaar heeft EQuilibrium Maastricht i.s.m. Henry Otgaar, van Panca Sila Maastricht (een Pencak Silat school) een Jiwa dan Raga – retreat verzorgd in Zuid Limburg. Ibu Ike en pak Tholib zijn door ons allen uitgenodigd om deel uit te maken van het leraren-team. Velen van jullie hebben hen leren kennen en hieraan deelgenomen.
Welcome to Indonesia
Grandmasters ibu Ike Suwanda and pak Enjang Tholib welcome us to Arjasari, a village/kampung near their hometown of Bandung, Java. This is about 200 km from Jakarta. In this village they have a house and a training facility of their Pencak Silat school: Pusaka Mande Muda (see photo). Pencak Silat is an Indonesian martial art and is on the Unesco World Heritage List.
Ibu Ike Suwanda and her husband pak Enjang Tholib are the leaders of their Pencak Silat school. They have been guests in the Netherlands several times to teach us and other schools their style Pusaka Mande Muda.
Last August, EQuilibrium Maastricht organized a Jiwa dan Raga – retreat near Maastricht in cooperation with Henry Otgaar, from Panca Sila Maastricht (a Pencak Silat school). Ibu Ike and pak Tholib were invited by the Jiwa dan Raga – team to be part of the teaching team. Many of you met them and participated in their classes.

Welkom in Indonesië – ‘work in progress’
Zoals je op de foto’s ziet zijn de grootmeesters ibu Ike en pak Tholib heel hard bezig om hun trainingsfaciliteiten te verbeteren in afwachting op onze komst, maar ook om in de toekomst mensen te kunnen ontvangen in hun dorp / kampong Arjasari.
Een unieke kans om een steentje bij te dragen aan de opbouw:
Mocht je dit jaar helaas geen tijd vrij te kunnen maken om met ons mee te reizen, maar toch wel interesse hebben om ooit daar te verblijven en te genieten van de omgeving, de indonesische cultuur en speciaal meer te weten willen komen over de verschillende Pencak Silat-tradities …. dan zou je kunnen besluiten om nu alvast een voucher te kopen voor een aantal overnachtingen á 15 euro per nacht.

As you can see from the pictures, the grandmasters ibu Ike and pak Tholib are working very hard to improve their training facilities in anticipation of our arrival, but also to be able to host people in their village / kampong Arjasari in the future.
A unique opportunity to contribute to the construction:
Should you unfortunately not be able to make time this year to travel with us, but are still interested to stay there one day and enjoy the surroundings, the indonesian culture and especially want to learn more about the various Pencak Silat-traditions …. then you could decide to buy a voucher for a number of nights at 15 euros per night.
